Objectives: To ensure access to justice for children

We at Sinduar Tola Gramodaya Vikas Vidyalaya (SGVV) in Ranchi, Jharkhand, have been working tirelessly with the support of the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF), US, to ensure "Access to Justice" for vulnerable children in the community we work. From May 2023 to March 2024, we have implemented a comprehensive program aimed at combating child labour, child trafficking, child marriage, and child sexual abuse in the district.

Our operational area primarily covers the Ormanjhi block, comprising 57 villages and 10 panchayats. Throughout this reporting period, SGVV has undertaken various activities to raise awareness, sensitize communities, and engage stakeholders in the fight for children's rights and protection.

Key highlights of our efforts:

Pledges Against Child Marriage: We have successfully facilitated pledges from parents, families, and community groups to combat child marriage, with 165 individual pledges, 1820 family pledges, and 712 group pledges.

Household Surveys and Social Security Scheme Outreach: Conducting household surveys has enabled us to identify vulnerable families in need of support. We have reached out to 1913 households initially and 268 vulnerable households subsequently, providing them access to various social security schemes.

Community Awareness Programs: SGVV has organized 463 community awareness programs across target areas, reaching over 11,000 individuals, to educate them about the ill effects of child marriage, child labour, child trafficking, and child sexual abuse.

Sensitization Programs: Through sensitization programs with parents, school children, officials, and stakeholders, we have strived to change attitudes and behaviours surrounding child protection issues. These efforts have included engaging with 350 parents and sensitizing 74607 school children.

Child Rescue Operations and Social Investigation Reports: We have lodged complaints and conducted raids to rescue children from exploitative situations, with a total of 38 children rescued. Furthermore, our organization has prepared social investigation reports for rescued children to facilitate their rehabilitation.

Campaigns and Workshops: From signature campaigns to district-level workshops, SGVV has been actively engaging with the community, government officials, and stakeholders to raise awareness, advocate for policy change, and promote child rights and protection.

With the continuous support from Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF), US, we have made significant strides in preventing child marriage, rescuing children from exploitative situations, and advocating for their rights. However, the journey towards ensuring justice and protection for every child is ongoing, and we remain committed to our cause.
