"To make religious places child marriage-free, posters have been put up"

Objectives: To make Jharkhand Child Marriage free

Sinduar Tola Gramodaya Vikas Vidyalaya (SGVV), with the support of Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation, has been working for the past year to make Ranchi district child marriage-free.

The organization is using various methods to prevent child marriage, which is not only a social evil but also a legal offense. On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the organization is informing the officials appointed by the state government at the district, block, and panchayat levels about the need to prevent child marriage. Additionally, religious leaders are being made aware of the issue and are being administered an oath that child marriage is a legal offense punishable by law.

Posters are also being put up in religious places, including temples, mosques, churches, and gurudwaras, stating that child marriage is not allowed in these places. According to Rajen Kumar, Secretary of the organization, awareness and information are crucial to preventing child marriage.

The organization is engaging with various stakeholders, including schools, village councils, block administration, panchayats, public representatives, self-help groups, parents, and religious leaders, to eradicate this social evil. He emphasized that anyone involved in child marriage, including the boy and girl's families, priests, and other officials, can be punished under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006, with fines and imprisonment. Around 150 places in Ranchi district, including Ormanjhi, Bedo, Anagada block, and surrounding areas, have been covered under this campaign."
